Apex Legends x Nessie Cafe collab
“Apex Legends -Nessie cafe-” (Nessie cafe) opened today (July 22, 2022) at the Tower Records Shibuya store in Tokyo.
The Nessie Cafe, which will be held at the TOWER RECORDS CAFE Shibuya store (Tower Records Shibuya store) and the TOWER RECORDS CAFE Umeda NU Chaya store in Osaka, will be the “world’s first” collaboration cafe for the battle royale FPS “Apex Legends”. Let’s introduce the collaboration cafe through the preview for media / influencers held at the Shibuya store before the opening.
There are various entities that can be called “mascots” of Apex Legends, such as MRVN and D.O.C. As an Easter egg in the game and as a favorite character of the legend “Watson”, it is widely popular among players.
As the name suggests, this Nessie Cafe is a collaborative cafe with the motif of Nessie, the iconic mascot character of Apex Legends.
At Nessie Cafe, Nessie welcomes you even before you enter. Outside the cafe entrance, there is a Nessie with a total height of over 1.5m and an outstanding impact. A small Nessie is also placed on its head, giving it a cuteness that cannot be expressed in words. It was enough to make me want to jump and mofumofu, but of course I can’t do that, so let’s enjoy the view from a reasonable distance.
Perhaps because the interview was in the evening, the lighting in the store was relatively subdued, and I was able to spend my time slowly. The left and right walls of the store are decorated with art by legends, and Nessie is everywhere in the store! Nessie on the table, Nessie relaxing on the seat, Nessie on the lights, and Nessie hanging from the ceiling. Anyway, there are a lot of Nessies “inhabiting”.
No matter where you look, this cafe where you can see Nessie is not as bleak as Outlands, the stage of Apex Legends (of course). It is a very comfortable space surrounded by an atmosphere that provides gentle healing to the battle-torn heart.
If I’m not mistaken, the BGM playing in the store is the music used in the trailers for each season of Apex Legends. I felt that the selection of songs around here is not as direct as the music in the game in creating the atmosphere of “Apex’s cafe”, but it is a really good seasoning and produces Apex.
The thing that worries me about the cafe is the menu. Unfortunately, there was no food tasting at the preview, only photography, but Nessie was cutely lurking in every menu in some form. I’m also curious about what it tastes like (of course, the food, not Nessie).
